Praising Him Virtually with the 35th Stellar Awards

Kirk Franklin, Jonathan McReynolds and Koryn Hawthorne hosted the most innovative Stellar Awards to date. The Covid-19 pandemic harshly impacted live events due to necessary social distancing rules and fear of spreading the virus. The Stellars answer was a talent filled hour of gospel music, visual video narratives and inspirational prose showcased on Sunday, August 23, 2020, which aired on BET. The flawless virtual awards presentation was thanks to executive producer, Don Jackson of Central City Productions and producer/director, Michael A. Johnson. Mr. Johnson’s production overflowed with the top gospel voices for the 35th anniversary of The Stellar Awards.
The awards show sponsored by State Farm, with the always adorable, Jake from State Farm, AARP, Toyota, Proctor & Gamble, Oil of Olay-Face Anything, McDonald’s “Young, Gifted and Black” and AT&T’s “Dream in Black” segments featured First Responders dedications, performances and Red Carpet Virtual Moments, hosted by Jekalyn Carr. Ms. Carr hosted the Stellar Awards red carpet on Facebook and Instagram before the airing of the show. BET and BET Her will continue to broadcast The Stellars encore…
