The Viribus Foundation raised thousands for Black Mental Health

Men and mental health are usually two opposing dynamics. Stability and strength are the foundation of masculinity. For Black men, the stigma of mental illness is even greater with less assistance offered. Society’s focus on their physical strength and male bravado creates the stigma of weakness when emotional or mental health are discussed. It is no wonder that less than 20% of Black men receive the medical assistance needed, albeit the death rate from suicide for African American men was four times greater than for African American women.

The Viribus Foundation events attracts the Who’s Who of DC social circles.

The Viribus Foundation, created by Calvin Seino, was founded to answer the battle cry of Black mental illness. Seino produces events in the DMV area to raise funds and awareness for mental health in the Black community. His most recent event was held last Sunday at Throw Social and Kick Axe in DC’s Ivy City, with all safety precautions in place.
